Meet the team:
Miriam Rodriguez Ruiz
Miriam Rodriguez-Ruiz is an Industrial Engineer with studies at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria; Miriam lived in Greece from 1997 until 2019, working in the energy sector, working for CRES (Centre of Renewables Energy Sources), for NTUA (National Technical University of Athens). Between 1999 and 2007, she worked as business director for Gamesa Group and Rokas Iberdrola. She is a member of the Hellenic Wind Energy Association and a board member of the Hellenic Spanish Chamber of Commerce. Recently living in Madrid.

Ioanna Angelaki
Ioanna holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and a Master’s (LLM) in Energy and Climate Law from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands.
She is an EU-qualified lawyer registered at the Athens Bar Association .
She is interested in exploring how citizens and energy communities can take up a more active role in the energy transition and how the legal, administrative, and technical barriers to the inclusion of energy communities in the energy system can be overcome.

Chris Vrettos
Chris holds a Bachelor’s in Biodiversity and Conservation (University College London) and a Master’s from the Stockholm Resilience Centre.
He is interested in communicating social and environmental justice issues, which is why he co-founded The Climate Collective in 2016 and has worked as a contributing journalist for multiple publications, such as LiFO, Athens Voice, Pressenza and UCL Kinesis.
Chris is also one of Hyperion Energy Community co-founding members.

Dimitris Kitsikopoulos
Dimitris is a Ph.D. candidate (“Community-based demand-side flexibility“); he holds a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, a Master’s in Renewable Energy Systems, and a Master’s in Information Technology for Manufacturing.
He has worked in the private sector with construction and commercial companies for 9 years. Since 2010 he has been active in community projects and has been working with several organizations and NGOs on developing the cooperative movement in Greece, with a particular focus on community energy.

Areti Aggeli
Areti is currently attending her bachelor studies in Physics (University of Ioannina). She has focused her degree on Atmosphere, Renewable Energy Resources, Environment and Climate. She loves volunteering and activism, and has been part of Climate Action projects around the world. She is also interested in Science Communication and Energy Democracy, with an emphasis on Climate Justice. She envisions of a healthy planet, made up of fair, inclusive and equal creatures.

Sandy Fameliari
Sandy holds a Bachelor’s in Physics with Environmental Physics major from the University of Athens and a public certificate in Renewable Sources of Energy. Her contribution to the field includes publishing a research paper on the topic of Indoor Climate Performance & Energy Consumption of Buildings.
With over 8 years of experience, she has dedicated a substantial portion of her career to Greenpeace Greece, where she served as a Climate & Energy campaigner for 5 years. Sandy is also an active participant in the climate movement, passionate about promoting a just and inclusive energy system based on clean community energy.

Ignacio Navaro
Ignacio holds a Master’s in Renewable Energy and Bio-energy and a BSc in Forestry Engineering from the Polytechnic School of Huelva (Spain). He came to Greece in 2012 as an inter student for the AUA (Agricultural University of Athens). Since 2012 he is specialized in developing renewable energy investments in the biomass and agricultural sector. Between 2013 and 2016, he worked as an EU grants consultant and exportations manager for renewable energy equipment. Since 2016 he also works as an energy expert for Greenpeace headquarters in Greece.

Ioanna-Mirto Chatzigeorgiou
Ioanna holds a diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering. She has worked as a research assistant and project manager in higher education and research institutions, contributing to several EU and national projects with a focus on optimizing residential energy use and implementing demand response strategies. She is a scholar of the Start - Create Cultural Change programme in cultural management, and has a long experience as an educator in formal and non-formal educational settings and EU youth mobility projects. In recent years, she is focusing on the assessment and development of strategies to enhance diversity, equity and inclusion in the clean energy transition.
