Energy BUSiness COoperation schemes that underpin the decarbonization by maximizing the technical and economic viability of PV installations.

Summary:

LIFE E-BUSCO is an innovative project designed to help companies in Spain, Greece and Italy more easily integrate renewable energy into their daily operations. Through a collaborative approach and the use of advanced technologies, E-BUSCO solves some of the biggest challenges facing solar energy today, such as falling prices due to oversupply of energy (energy cannibalization) and limited use of available solar energy.

This project proposes a solution to these challenges: cooperation between companies to share resources, such as energy storage, allowing more efficient management of renewable energy production and consumption. Thanks to this approach, E-BUSCO improves the profitability of renewable energies without the need for costly extensions to the power grid.

E-BUSCO is coordinated by Voltiva Energy (Spain) and has an international consortium formed by EuroVértice (Spain), Bamboo Energy S.L. (Spain), Que Technologies Kefalaioouchiki Etaireia (Greece), Electra Energy Cooperative (Greece), RINA Consulting S.p.A. (Italy) and Engreen srl (Italy).

The E-BUSCO rollout includes the creation of three Energy Cooperation Hubs (ECHs) located in Spain, Greece, and Italy. At these Hubs, 48 organizations will participate in real-world energy collaboration experiences, sharing assets and exploring flexible management methods. To support this process, three high-level digital tools are being designed, tailored to the specific characteristics of each hub: the Energy Sharing & Management Tool, the Decision Support Tool, and the Aggregation and Flexibility Tool.

Within each hub, energy diagnostics and flexibility audits will be conducted to identify opportunities for self-consumption and corporate efficiency. The project will also define specific operational frameworks for each site, ensuring that the model is sustainable and easily replicable in other parts of Europe.

Finally, a strategic plan will be developed for the operation and scalability of the Hubs, accompanied by viable business models and regulatory proposals to facilitate their expansion across Europe. These milestones aim to make energy collaboration a cornerstone of a more effective and sustainable energy transition in the European Union.
