Will EU Vote?

With this campaign Electra Energy calls on progressive citizens to vote for a progressive agenda that promotes climate, social and economic justice in the European elections of June 2024.

Let’s be clear: we are living through a defining moment in human history, walking a tightrope between utopia and social barbarism and climate collapse.

Growing inequalities are not only characterised by economic capital, but also by the emissions gap between the super rich, and the rest of us.

Traditional parties feel increasingly outdated, leaving a vacuum in their place, which we must ferilize with bold and progressive ideas.

On the one hand, the democratic arc of Green and progressive coalitions (Spain, the Netherlands) is forming, and on the other, anti-democratic alliances of far-right parties (Italy, Sweden, Finland) emerge

And where does “Utopia” lie in this narrative? In the exponentially growing – now critical – mass of citizens, trade unions, civil society organisations, artists and scientists, demanding systemic change for a more just and sustainable tomorrow.

Towards a system with universally accessible services (health, transport, housing, education, access to technology and energy), and community-based management of resources (e.g. energy communities).

Through a series of actions in the coming months, until June 2024, we will highlight such progressive policies, and most importantly mobilise people to exercise their fundamental democratic right: voting.

Why should I vote in the European elections?

From foreign policy and the environment, to fiscal policy and public health, the European Union plays a catalytic – and growing – role in our lives. From the wars in Ukraine and Gaza to the pandemic, the world is becoming increasingly unpredictable, making coordination at European level essential.

Will social change come about (only) by voting?

Certainly not. Voting is a first – and important – step. But we consider it the duty of citizens to self-organize and participate in direct democratic schemes, such as energy communities, for the other 364 days of the year. With this campaign we will *also* explore this dimension of citizenship.

Ok, how do I take part?

Firstly, by making sure you vote in June! Through the form below we are collecting e-mails from those interested in taking part in the mobilisation. We will use this list for *targeted* (not spam) communications about our upcoming actions (workshops, publications, announcements)

Okay, but I still don't understand how the European Union works - what exactly are we voting for in June?

It’s perfectly normal to feel confused – we do too! We believe that politics should be understandable by and accessible to all – so through this campaign we will try to demystify some parts of how the EU and the European elections work.
